    Rear Bumper Woes

I took the front and rear bumpers off and had them chromed. The front went straight back on no problem but the back one is putting up a fight.
I have treble checked and I have all of the brackets and overriders in the correct place, the problem is that when offered up to the car the corner section mountings on the bumper are short of the holes in the rear wing. The nearside one is about 10mm shy and the offside one is about 18mm shy. This is the bumper that came off the car in March so I can't understand why it will not fit.
Is there a specific order or method for fitting it or is it just a really really difficult job?
    Any help appreciated

    Try slackening the joints maybe?

A friend in the classic bike world did them for me. He does all the linishing etc. and has an arrangement with a platers that they let him use their plant. He doesn't take in outside work though.

I think it depends wether or not the chromers made any repairs to the fixings. The oonly other thing is are you fitting a towbar?

Well, what a performance that was!
In the end I released the rear bolts and offered the side mounts up from below the car. With a large amount of Heave Ho, two of us managed to lever the bumper up into place. It had the original mounts that haven't been altered so all I can think is that it must be on the outside of manufacturing tolerance. However it's on now so next step is MOT and then the diff is coming out and while it's up on the ramp I'll try to find where the oil leak is coming from, I suspect the gearbox mainshaft seal :-(
