At the end of the day Gary we get to see them wander off into the sunset whereas they have to live with and see themselves every day.

The answer to that one is to say that actually, 2 dolomite engines were made by cutting a Stag V8 engine in half.

Do you have the 2 litre straight 6?

No, they were all 3.0 litre V8

No they weren't, most were straight 6!

              Ok

                That's nothing!
You ought to see what they say about the Aston Martin V12....

TWO Ford Mondeo V6 engines welded end to end!!

(strictly speaking it's actually based on 2 x Jaguar S type Duratec V6, changed to roller tappets, but that's actually an EXCELLENT engine!).
The fact the A-M V12 is actually designed by Cosworth and is hand assembled in a state of the art factory in Germany passed them by....

The DB7 V12 was re-engineered by AVL in Michigan before it was fitted to the DB9 and Vanquish. Several new DB7 V12 engines were sent over for destruction testing as then owners (Ford) weren't happy with the reliability.

This guy said to me yesterday, waiting to pounce on me in Sainsbury's car park, the Triumph Stag was one of the worst cars ever made. And mostly because Triumph couldn't make 'that American V8 work' when Rover and others could. Thanks mate, love your car too (Renault something) and may you live in eternal ignorance on this and, no doubt, many other matters.

The world is full of ignorance.

And probably a good job too, because if the clueless majority realised what a delight a Stag can be, the prices would sky rocket!

I would have thought it's probably one and a half Dolomites, as they'd have to cut the lower half off one before welding it to the other; probably a very clever guy doing the welding on the cast iron though or maybe the clever guy cold stitched it )

You just need to point out that around 40 years after production ceased about a third still survive. I bet you would be hard pushed to find another comparable car in that respect, apart from perhaps the Landrover/Defender. That statistic in itself speaks volumes to me.

A while back when getting into my Stag I overheard a young lad say to his dad as they were passing "Nice car Dad - what is it?" to which his dad replied "A Mustang".
