    Hello - New member here

    Hi All,
Just a quick hello to everyone from a new Stag owner, I have always wanted to own a Stag from my teenage years having first seen one whilst on my paper round, I must have been 14/15yrs I've waited almost 40yrs to own one...
I have not been without a Triumph in all these years, my first car was a 1966 Triumph 1300 fwd (GCR758D), once I'd passed my test at 17 I bought a 1974 mimosa yellow Dolly Sprint (NBP10M) and then at 18yrs old I purchased a white Sprint (LHP689V). Through the years other Dolomites came & went but around 2005/6 I went and bought my current Dolly Sprint (WVF869S) and despite infrequent use (8-900 miles pa) we have no plans to separate now that the Stag has arrived...
My car is a 1977 Tahiti Blue Stag with nearly 48k (ARW626S), it has spent it's last 10yrs in a barn in York, the previous owner being a farmer did not have time to use it and subsequently it only covered around 400 mls in his ownership. It was a bit of a risk, but I was assured the car was good to drive and for the first time in 10 yrs the Stag undertook a 270 mile trip south to Southampton, despite some concerns over the braking efficiency (possible air in hydraulics) the Stag did not miss a beat and happily got us home at a steady 65-70mph. We did have a car accompany us home just in case we had any problems but overall I was pleased that this support was not needed.
Hopefully, I'll get to meet some of you Southern based members sometime soon, I have many questions to ask on the subject of Stags, so please be patient with this newbie...

    Regards Dave

Look forward to seeing a few photos of your new baby!

    Cheers,

Welcome to the forum! Tut Tut, these farmers who own Stags. We've got one on here too!

Dolly Sprints are a favourite of mine but I've never owned one myself. Maybe one day .......

Welcome! That's quite something - to come out of storage and do a 270 mile trip with no real problem! I can only think that your PO farmer must have kept it well maintained, fluids changed, and ready to run. Anyhow, just goes to show, Stags can be reliable! Sounds like a good buy, enjoy it!

Solent and New Forest group meet first Monday of the month at the Bell at Brook (near Cadnam) http://www.bellinn-newforest.co.uk/

Just a quiet word of advice - don't mention the header tank on this forum - it seems to awake some deep passions among some of our contributors

There are some very funny folk on here (in both senses of the word), but they are all welcome and you will usually get useful answers to questions.

LD44419, looks to have been made around 1,300 cars before end of production. I have approached the British Motor Museum for a heritage certificate that should give me the build date.

Mine has a chassis no. of LD44729A, so was made slightly later than yours.

LD43908 was the first Stag built in 1977, on January 4th. LD45722, the last Stag, was built on 24th June 1977.

That should give you an approx build date.

Hi Dave. Welcome to the forum from another new member.....and another David

The forum is absolutely brilliant for finding answers to questions that have already been asked (I blew a fuse yesterday........went to my trusty Haynes manual - no help at all - did a quick search here and BINGO, got the answer) and an incredibly helpful bunch of knowlegable people that can answer no end of questions that you will undoubtably have.

This is a great place to be!
It was James Bond's colour... Saffron Yellow is so cool :-)

Welcome Dave. Really nice car you have there. This is the place for knowledge, whether it's simple diagnostics or a complete rebuild incorporating a completely new drivetrain, somebody here has done it and knows all about it.

Hi Dave and welcome to the club...

Just a suggestion, but I would go back and edit your post taking out some of the Commission number..just leave the first few..otherwise anyone has your reg and chassis number..

Not suggesting anyone on here is untrustworthy, however it is a possible to view the forum as a non member..

Great find by the way, good looking car..
