I have a early mk 1/2 on the under side of the gearbox tunnel, theres a soundproofing pad will i have to remove this to fit the Zf gearbox, will it be in the way ?
I didn't think they fitted that pad on automatic cars. Mine has a ZF gearbox and no pad but I wish it did because the noise in the cabin would be much less if it was there!
Mines an early(ish) MK1 and it has the sound deadening fitted in the tunnel. I did remove it when I had the box out (BW35), but only to clean everything up. I put it back. I also had another MK1 for spares which also had the pad fitted.
