Rear panel colour?

I am having a restoration and respray on my Stag.
The rear panel surrounding the number plate and rear lights is currently matt black.
Should it be body colour?
It is a 1976 car

That age the body colour had change back to body colour from black like the early Stags

Mine is a Sep 75 build with a matt / satin plack rear panel.

Thats interesting Dave, I always thought that my car's rear black panel was incorrect but great news it's not.

Mine, built Sept '76, has a black panel, which appears to be incorrect, both on date and Commission Number - but I quite like it and have no plans to change.

My spray painter accidentally painted mine gloss black (LD is around 34000) but it looked quite good and I was happy to keep it. A bit more effort for the spray painter I suppose adding another colour there and on the sills.

Satin Black from LD20001 to LD36714

Thanks Dave for your specific response.
Mine's 1976 and just after LD41000 so body colour it is since I am having it resprayed back to original colour after a previous colour change.
I do think body colour looks better too.
