If you are talking post LD20001 Mk1.5, then they have the resistor in the loom (or at least my late 1.5 has). A couple of years ago I had problems with this and fitted a ceramic external resistor and the problem went away. Further investigation revealed a break in the resistor wire close to the connector. I remade the connection and went back to the original, leaving the ceramic one in place ready to swap over if the problem returned. The ceramic one is now in my spares stash.Dave

Yes, the car is post LD20001 so it will have resistor in the loom. (There is no (obvious) separate resistor near the coil). The problems occurred when the car got up to normal temperature so it could well be a poor connection. I will need to go back to a coil that needs a ballast if I want to use the original set up. We took the car out this afternoon and it went a whole lot better. I think I will still experiment just a little with the timing.

I think that the OE coils just do not have the oomph for some electronic ignitions. This is probably why Pertronix and Alden sell matched coils.

My misfire was because of
done a few hundred miles, but it was all I had at the time. cheap nasty crap
Now fitted distributordoctor cap and rotor. Car performed beautifully on drive to Devon yesterdayYou do not have permission to view this gallery.

I was looking at 6v 1.5 Ohm, but the 45011 is quoted as both voltages and 0 .6 Ohms, so which one to choose ???
Think I'll drop them a question for their recommendation.
