    Refilling Man O/D box

    Hello,
I have just had the overdrive unit rebuilt and have reinstalled the gearbox. Upon refilling the gearbox, I couldn't get the the 2.5 litre of oil back in. I was told that the gearbox had to be run to get the oil through to the overdrive unit, is this right? The over drive works intermittently, but the gear change is not good. It almost feels as if the clutch isn't disengaging property despite pressure bleeding the slave unit. I have noticed that if the car is put in reverse it will go into it will go in with a thump and the car will lurch backwards.

Any ideas before I take it back out again....?

The oil takes some time to get through to the overdrive, and you will need to switch it in and out several times to purge out all the air in the hydraulic system. Then top the gearbox up again to the height of the filler, with the car level! How well do you know your nearest garage!

Which hole have you got the clutch slave connected to the gearbox? I pressure bled mine with a new clutch and still had to use the top hole for now to get a really good clutch action
