Removing clutch fork from cross shaft.

Looking for some experianced members suggestions how best to remove the cross shaft from the bell housing when the clutch fork is stuck tight to the cross shaft after removing the pin.
Guessing the tappered locking pin that has burred the hole in the shaft in operation making it difficult to slide the fork off.
I am tempted to locate the fork against the opposite of bellhousing and drive the cross shaft out with a suitable drift, but wary of causing damage.
Difficult to view the pin bore as the fork will not allow the shaft to rotate to view.

    appreciate thoughts
    Cheers

Hi Brian, If you have access to an oxy/acetylene gas set, a quick heat will release any corrosion and also expand the fork away from the shaft. I'm in Morrinsville with a good workshop if you need assistance.
Are you coming to the Club Christmas Lunch on 3rd Dec at Coach House Puriri ?

Buy a new shaft (its probably worn anyway)and angle grind the old one with a thin cutting disk.

Yes Stag8 thanks will see you at SOC Xmas lunch. On inspection today looks like some of tapered pin / bolt maybe sheared off..

Can anyone tell the length of the tapered pin, and confirm it does not pass through the cross shaft?

          cheers

Can’t confirm the actual length, but from painful memory of one breaking many years ago, I’m sure it does pass through the shaft. I resorted to sacrificing the fork with a cutting disc and saving the shaft as it wasn’t worn.

If the fork is stuck to the shaft, it's usually that the pin has broken, leaving part in the hole.
Guess how many times that happened to me when I was working on PI's? Of course, in those days we could nip to the Leyland dealer and buy a new one....

Are you absolutely sure no one has cross drilled it and put in a C pin?
