Hard Top - A stitch in time, or not

I have a Stag hardtop currently in excellent state of repair. I would like to Waxoil the internal metalwork of the roof. The corners of the main roof section are open and accessible. If I waxoil into these corners are they sealed from the internal fabric of the roof all the way to the next corner? Or are the sections open internally so that it will it just leak out onto the roof liner.

I’m sure someone else will confirm, but I think they’ll be open and stain the lining.
