    Cooling hoses

Hi, I am changing the cooling hoses, one split last week . I am having trouble with bottom radiator hose being to close (rubbing) to the alternator pulley. I have tried both hose.
The old hose was always very close to the alternator pulley.
Is the alternator belt wrong (to long ). Any one had a similar problem.
    Cheers Nigel.

    Hi Niger,
I have now moved my alternator but l had the same problem before.
I found that one leg of the right angle hose was on the long side , l also moved the position of the steel water pipe that runs up to the thermostat housing.
    That cured it for me.

It may be the new hose isn't as accurately made as OEM (I know that might sound like a contradiction in terms, but I imagine BL subbed them out so were made reasonably accurately by the subcon supplier!). I had a top hose recently that didn't match the original hose profile and had to be sent back because there was no way I would have trusted it

          Not very pc

Anyhow ... I found the same problem, trimmed a bit of the length off and juggled the steel pipe position and it's ok. Jubilee clip also has to be carefully positioned!

I have fitted a couple of top and bottom rad hoses recently from different suppliers. The bottom hose had to be trimmed by about 10mm at the radiator end IIRC and I think I had to trim the top hose at both ends by a little.

The bottom hose is not 90 degrees, it is more like 100-120 or so.

Had the same problem with the alternator pulley rubbing on the hose, my fan belt was worn and stretched. New one sorted it.

Some of the bottom hoses made are to long. SOC Spares has the original Unipart/Triumph Tooling so theirs are the correct length.
