    Removing the crankshaft pulley

Any tips oar suggestions for removing the crankshaft pulley?

I have got the bolt off quite easily but cannot get the pulley off. The inner V belt groove already has chips from previous owner having a similar problem. I am very aware of making it worse.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That's disappointing 23 views and no replies. Well try this

My first port of call is ALWAYS to use the Search box for the enquiry, I searched under Cranshaft Pulley and it came up with 5 pages and 117 posts. Not all are for removal some are for how to get the bolt off and other related enquiries but always worth a check, and on page 3 post 4 as I remember this is the identical enquiry with method on how to remove.

My work here is now done.

Is there room to get a puller in?
Take it the rad is out,
Wooden wedges between the pully and timing cover, put the bolt back in most of the way, give the bolt a sharp thump to shock the pully free.

The link Micky posted has several suggestions about using a crowbar, this always works for me. Try and get as close to the centre of the pulley with the toe of the bar as you can and also spread the load on the timing cover with something. This method keeps well clear of the outer edges of the pulley which is usually the bit that gets damaged.

I used a large puller on mine with a 1/2" socket set through the front valence, the pulley slid off quite easily but my engine was then only 20,000 miles from recon.

I got it off this morning, using a long metal lever and wood again against the front engine cover to spread the load.
            Thanks for all your help.

Can't say I have ever had a problem getting mine off once the bolt has come out, pretty much slipped off.
I would clean up the mating surfaces with fine emery cloth before refitting.
