Andrew. I hope you will be replacing both bushes on either side! Make sure you put them on the right way round-as they are in the picture.
I haven't got a measurement, but it should be more than that. It will be what you get with new bushes. I would be careful about replacing them with poly instead of rubber. Make sure it is a soft poly if you do. I mustn't advise you where to get rubber ones if you stay with them, but there are some good and bad ones out there!
Mike.
That looks too tight, could cause nasty noises on suspension travel.
easy enough to change those bushes if the exhaust is cool, just a bit fiddly
I use rubber on mine, I was worried that some of the harder poly materials might damage the metal "membrane" inside the chassis, this did occur to someone years ago and the result was the whole drag strut, bushes and remains of the metal membrane had nowt to push against so suspension became a bit wobbly, pretty sure I didnt dream it.
softer quality poly might have gotten over that issue, or it might have been terminal rust that was the root cause in the first place.
either way ^^ too close
Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony
Thanks Mike
Although its not on my car, the bushes are being replaced in rubber and being that I have got them from Peter at LDParts, my mind will be at rest with the quality
Thanks for the advice
Regards
Andrew
I fitted purple superflex poly bushes around nine years ago and not had any problems. Did find it difficult to get the right torque on the nut though, just seems to do up for a long time.
