    I agree Drew. The MoT already has allowances/differences based on the vehicles age - exemptions/allowances for lighting, emissions, seat belts etc. Section 3 if the Introduction in the new draft manual states:

    "Testers should take account of the fact that certain components on historic vehicles may have beenmanufactured to have a greater degree of play or tolerance than is found in modern vehicles. "

    As you say £35 to £55 for an annual itemised and independent check of the safety aspects of your car is not a lot to pay, especially as the person testing has to put their name to the test. Some have said they will take their car for an "annual check" at a garage, how much is that going to cost and will it be as thorough as an MoT and include a proper brake test? Worth noting that if you get your car serviced they will at best inspect the brakes, they will not test them on the rollers.

    Just my opinion and not looking to extend the debate but to me it's a no brainer.
