    What interior to use.

Hi people. I have a small conundrum and I need some advice. I've just had my stag painted in it's original colour of pimento red and can't decide which interior to use. Original black vinyl or cream leather I've acquired. Any thoughts.

Pimento was a Stag colour from '72 through to '77. Black was the consistent interior colour throughout with chestnut being an option from Feb '73 to May '75.

      Copied from http://www.stagbytriumph.co.uk/

Seeing how I'm condemned to the dark side (RV8 owner) I'd say go with the one you like best.

PS IMHO cream leather would do it for me, would look a real pimps motor.

I would say cream leather would look better in a sapphire blue car - mine
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

If I go with black it may be for sale.

Black vinyl from the 70's is a bit too gloomy for me. Even some of the modern all black interiors are a bit too gloomy for me..
Mine had the quite likeable chestnut interior but it was too hard to replicate in a modern leather so I trimmed interior in full leather combo cream/black and the black wool blend carpets. To give the seats a more modern look I also did away with some of the lashings of pleating DSC_0218.jpg

I have pimento red with black. I’d like the middle of the seats red but too expensive. I did fit red carpets to brighten it up a bit

IMHO cream would look very nice. But there are different shades of cream, I suppose for the best match it would need to be a cream with a reddish hue. But lay it out on the bonnet in full sun and see if it is a good match.

Light interiors have a luxurious look, unless you have a black Labrador that likes mud!

If you have actual leather (as opposed to vinyl) in cream then definitely go with that. I’m sure you can dye it another colour later if you want.

                    Cheers,
                    Joakim

My P.O. spent a fortune on dove grey leather which I love. But it’s not easy to keep clean. I had a BMW mini with part cream leather seat trimmings and it did get dirty over the 7 years I owned it despite all efforts. Might be worth researching leather protection products?

IMG_0114.JPGI love my leather interior , however I used mixture as I didn't want the door cards looking different to the original dash so they are vynle
the rest is leather . I choose black for both practical and style reasons but the choice is down to the owner .
I love leather its got a great smell and the feeling of it is great on the seats.
Feed it as well as I have just had to recover my rear tonue due to it shrinking in the sun
                        Regards Edd
