    Installing ISO Audio Unit

    Probably a silly question :?:

I'd like to install a CD/Radio in my car but I've never installed a modern unit into a Triumph, is this a difficult operation? is there any kind of adaptor to simplify the process?

    Ian,

    Try BosScreen: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/cfereday/index.htm

Click on Accessories then Radio Adapter Plate. Simple to fit and does the job.

You can buy one from any Motor factor or Maplinswhich fit into the radio and have loose wires for you to spade connect individually.

I cannot help too much but a couple of things I found out when fitting a "new" radio is:

They need a continuous live feed or they forget the programmed radio stations

Most new radios need an amplifier as well

Mine also needed a car audio noise suppressor in line between the amp and radio to stop the buzzing

          Hope this helps Andrew

Thanks, I think I've found what I need on the Maplins site now.

Ah! Misunderstood. As Stuart says. Halfords and any motor acessories shop that does ICE will have them as well.

I was told by the shop that sold me mine that I could put the permanent and switched live on the same feed. I dont recommend that as it soons flattens the battery!

These feeds were separate on the unit that was in my car, the permanent feed wire and an earth pass through a fused box and these wires had melted/fused together at a couple of points. The switched live feed was run from the ignition fed relay and this wire appears to have melted its insulation in a couple places so something has been going wrong. The previous owner obviously spent ages wiring up 8 speakers, if only he'd sorted out the main wiring properly before he started things might work better now.

I had another go at tidying up the wiring today and in the end I have removed all the previous owners audio wiring, the end result is that my heater blower and hardtop heated screen circuits are now working as intended. I have taped off the loom radio wire (white/pink) and the cigarette lighter purple wire until I get a replacement. I am now much happier with the wiring, if I need music I can use my iPhone!
