I have a problem with my drivers side door and need to remove it, I'm aware of the weight problem, but has anyone got any advice they would care to pass on ? I've done this on an MGB and a GT but never on a Stag. Thanks, Martin.

I took both doors off on Boxing Day. My father gave me a hand to assist take the weight whilst undoing the bolts. I was pleasantly surprised at how light the doors actually are even with glass still fitted. My one bit of advice is get someone to give you some assistance or use a hoist and sling if you have access to one.

they are no trouble to remove as easy as most other old cars .
my tip is get swmbo to steady the door undo an remove all bolts bar one in each hinge fromApost and support door on trolley jack with some padding to protect paint remove bottom bolt and then top and off she comes but make sure you have a blanket or something to place it on once off to protect paint. refit using jack method easy
time it took me to write this you would have done one ,good luck

martin wrote:That's very encouraging, thank you. Which is the best point to disconnect the wiring ? Martin.
Remove the side footwell carpet you will have to remove the door seal as this part of the carpet is glued in place, and then you will gain access to the inline plug for the wiring.
