    ESM at Maastricht

Anybody from the forum going to the ESM this year?

I ask as I had noted the prices in the Dec/Jan SOC magazine and went to order on-line via this website and noticed that the prices had gone up by 20%, presumably to take into account the fall in the value of the £ against the €.

What would happen if I order using a copy of the magazine order form? I assume Lesley will come back with a surcharge.

It makes for an expensive weekend, but I do enjoy the hospitality of the Dutch!

Keith -Looking at it with the Worcs. area but the cost, and particular the increase due to he falling pound, does make it expensive.

I think there are 4-5 Stags from Worcs. that may go - will know more after an update meeting on Saturday - will advise.

You are quite right Keith. I have had to contact any members who completed the earlier forms and notify them of the price increase. The increase is solely down to the situation with the pound. Its the first time we have seen this happen and I can only apologise to those involved. In the end it was not fair for the Club to absorb the additional costs for a small group of members when the exchange rate shifted e.g. a difference of £30 per person for the package alone.

        Drat,

I thought I had found a loophole! Only joking Lesley. However it does make for rather an expensive weekend.

We have booked in an hotel near to the Castle Vaeshartelt at a saving of £30 per night as we will be in Maastricht from the Thursday night to Tuesday morning, an additional 4 nights but intend to stay at The Castle for the Saturday night.

For anybody interested, NorfolkLine are offering the cheapest channel crossing Dover-Dunkerque at £55 return.

I may go and combine it with a visit to friends in Delft.

A little tip on the channel crossing - Tesco Clubcard deals on the Eurotunnel. I think about £25 worth of Clubcard points will get you a return crossing
