Heat sheild on exhaust box

I'm looking to turn my 2 exhaust boxes over so the rear swan neck goes down and not up so as to clear the BMW cross beam that i'm fitting .Having taken the boxes off i see there is a heat shield on the top of them .Is this a standard item or have i got a special?

I am sure I remember something about some pattern exhausts not having them but I think they are supposed to be there

Just noticed my two boxes are not a pair as they differ in shape .doesn't make for a good balance :shock:.
