Hi,Hope the elecrically minded forum users can help me.
I am going to fit a square clock from a jaguar xj in the lift down ash tray on front console of my MK1 man OD.
Got my own ideas of taking the live from the cigarette lighter but got no idea where to take the earth feed from.,and as usual I know if I ask for support there are usually ideas/instructions or stuff I had not thought of that makes the job a damn sight easier and less problematic.
Cant remember how to get to the back of cig lighter can you access through ashtray vent or does the whole of the center middle console(the one holding all 4 controls choke etc)have to be removed ,think the body of lighter can be pulled out of front,Can someone put me right on this?.
Idiots guide please.
And of coarse advise the best place to take a live and earth feed from.
All help is always appreciated.
Regards Mark
P.SI thinkone of the best benefits of the forum is not only enabaling to do tasks, but also avoidance of getting stuff wrong an causing additional problems,I know this fro experience !!

I am about to do something very similar, but with the Stags original clock. How well does the Jag one fit - does it look a factory fit ?
A Scotchlok is a fantastic little wiring device - you clip it over an existing wire, slip a wire in you want to connect to that circuit and crimp together with pliers - the silver blade part you see at the top cuts through the insulation on both wires, joining the circuit up and insulates the joint because of the blue case..... can be bought for a few pence at your local motor emporium.
Here's a picture - you may recognise them....
Where the hell did you find a picture of a Scotchlok ? I'm so impressed ! Martin.

Try these connectors "Their Great" as a magenta tiger once said - much easier to use as it has a standard bayonet connector attached.
