Fitting oil pressure guage

I was given a combined oil pressure/water temp guage and tried to fit it today. I went to a local scrapyard this morning and obtained the copper/flexible hose pipework from an MGB but when I tried removing the original pressure switch I can't get a spanner on it either from above or below. My car is an auto and it seems like I will need to remove the auto box dipstick tube, is this correct or has anyone managed this with the tube in situ?

Aha!!

It can be done - I have done it!

There was some struggling, swearing and skinned knuckles in the process though.

Stagdad swears by using a plumbers tap wrench to undo the pressure switch ready for the tee piece.... do a search in the forum and you'll find the bit I mean....

Just one thought, itis a good opportunity to change the transmission fluid, after draining, get the dipstick tube off. You may find that the Temp sender is too long to fit where the Stag sender goes, but there is an adapter, Kryten can advise I think. Martin.

Martin, I assume you are talking about the water temp sender adaptor here, I have ordered one of these from Holden. My transmission fluid is the correct colour so shouldn't need changing, that said, it's leaking from the banjo bolt so it is self draining anyway!

Hopefully I can pick your brains about this on Thursday night.
