    National Day

Has anyone else tried to book up the Premier travel Inn on the National Day site?

I wentto book up several weeks ago but could not get a room, in the end I had to book up at the one 5 miles down the road.

Is anyone else on here going on any of the activities laid on for the Saturday?

It is going t be at Uttoxeter racecourse and not Trentham Gardens. Trentham have had a change in management and the costs soared, so the organiserspulled out and quite right.

The details will be in the next mag which will probably arrive tomorrow

                    Cheers

The following will be in the magazine:

                      SOC 30th Anniversary National Weekend 7th, 8th & 9th August 2009

Change of Venue – Uttoxeter Racecourse

Progress on arrangements for this years National event at Trentham have unfortunately stalled. Due to a change of management, Trentham are not prepared to honour the agreement and format of the event which we had worked towards over the past 4 months. Within the revised proposal put to us by Trentham on 11th December, the constraints imposed on the event together with the increased costs unfortunately left us with no alternative but to look for another venue. We have looked at a number of options and decided on Uttoxeter Racecourse, which is less than 20 miles from Trentham. In many respects it is logistically better suited to our needs and there are no restrictions imposed to limit the format or entertainment that we have planned for the weekend. Many of you will be pleased to know that dogs are permitted on site. Uttoxeter Racecourse is centrally located in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside with easy access from the M1 & M6 motorways via the A50. Despite the setback, the planning and progress for the new venue are now well under way, this is just a brief insight into what we have on offer. Camping will be available on site for 250 pitches, with good quality toilet & shower facilities, overlooking the display and events arena. There are a wide variety of hotels and B&B’s at reasonable rates within a few miles of the Racecourse.

In addition to the usual National Weekend activities, we are planning a fish and chip supper for the Friday evening together with a skittles competition and tethered hot air balloon rides subject to the weather conditions.

Saturday we are proposing a number of planned trips to sites of interest, together with the traditional golfing competition and run out into the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

The Saturday evening’s entertainment will be held on site in one of the Premier conference halls which are fully equipped with bar and servery facilities which will easily accommodate 250 people. The evening will start with a Hog Roast with a variety of meats, salads and desserts, fully licensed bar and a Barn Dance with a Live Band and Caller.

We aim to create a friendly family atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the weekend; you will be able to pre book tables to sit with your friends. Area stands will be allocated for the Sunday to enable you to park together and create your own area theme with gazebos and the like.

Sunday will be action packed with something for the whole family with over 20 triumph clubs invited, area games competitions, craft fair, trade stands, birds of prey, cars for sale, face painting, stags of special interest and many more surprises. The concours will held under cover in a marquee, the categories split into Mk1, Mk2, Heavily Modified and the 30th Anniversary Car of the Year, all judged on a point’s basis with some nice glassware for the winners. The Car of the Year is open to all Stags and will be judged on condition, so you will not loose points for deviations from standard. There will also be a public vote for the best visiting classic.

Uttoxeter Racecourse has won many prestigious awards for its facilities and is well acquainted with hosting car club and motoring events. The site is well presented and maintained to a high standard. We will ensure that everyone has a great time and that our 30th Anniversary National Weekend will be remembered for all the right reasons.

On behalf of the Notts / Derby Area I would like welcome you all to a very special SOC National Weekend for 2009. Booking Forms and more details will be available in next months magazine and on the SOC website.

                        Hi Andrew

Oh well will now have to arrange something for Uttoxeter now!

It is a shame there's no honor any more as we were really looking forward to going to Tretham as we have never been there!

Never mind I just hope there's plenty for the wife and kids to do as I will struggle to justify the day if there isn't!!

                        Stuart

I would book any accommodation requirements now, as Alton Towers is only down the road and all the hotels soon get bookedup ready forthe school summer holidays.
