    Replacing BW35 Dipstick Banjo bolt

My car is leaking ATF and it looks to be coming from the banjo bolt at the end of the dipstick/filler tube. I have a new banjo bolt & 2 x dowty rings, I would like to know if I am likely to lose a significant volume of ATF in removing the old bolt and replacing it? obviously I will have the O/S jacked up

Hi Ian, sadly you will, just catch it in something clean and put it back. Martin.

I wouldn't, but if I absolutely had to re-use the fluid, run it through a paint or coffee filter first.

Just one speck of grit or foreign body..........

I decided to tackle the weeping banjo bolt today, what a pig of a job that was. Had I removed the exhaust it would have taken no time at all but with the exhaust in situ it took me around 90 mins to remove the bolt, replace the washers (dowty type this time) and replace. Hopefully I'll retain the ATF better now.
