My Day by Snakey age 50 something

Had a call from a new customer yesterday to inspect his 2 post lift, so arrived on site to find myself in motorsport heaven... The chap is a Garret Turbo Centre, Theyhave 2 main missions, 1 tobuild turbosfor competition and the second for setting up engine management systemsand dyno running...

Imanaged to spend some time with a chap who was having his M3 drift car set up on the dyno...He was peeved as it was only making 430 bhp and allthe figureswere pointing to 550bhp plus!!!!! I first thought ungratefull devil then put it together when he said he had spent £20K on the engine so far! So I suppose if you have spent that much you gonna want ALL of that 550 bhp. Personally I would be if I had half of that on tap in the stag, mind you it might turn it self inside out!:?

Unfortunately for him the power loss was not down to a leaking wastegate but...Turbo wear!!! I didn,t have the heart to ask him how much that would cost :?

Ian - You mentioned a Gordon-Keeble in an earlier thread - a car I've always admired. Have you got some pics and more info on it?

      Hello mate,

Yes indeed. sorry I should have posted this sooner.

I only have 2 pictures to hand....My mum gave me a small photo folder my dad compiled for me...Its very touching as he had Alzheimers and it must have been quite an effort to put it together..but what really got me was the little comments on the back of each picture such as " Dads gordon keeble taken ingarden of cottage" such an innocuos expression but brings it home how he saw the picture. He knew what the subject was and could recall it was taken at his home. A home he had left 20 years previous.

As for the Keeble it was an awesome car. 5.3 ltr chevy corvette and corvette gearbox. Dads car was previously owned by John Wolfe of John Wolf Racing. He bought it from the Executors (Burton Family as in The Taylors) after he was killed at Le Mans. He boughtit as a basket case as it wasbeing refurbished and rebuilt it.

I drove it a few times, a real mans car no power steering, short gear shift and as thegearboxwas from a lefthooker was biased over to the left, it took a mean strong lunge to change gear.
