    Dipstick tube has come off

I checked my oil this afternoon and then couldn't find the tube to put the dipstick back in, I'd almost convinced myself that I'd lost the plot when I noticed the tube was still attached to the dipstick. Hopefully I can put this back in without dismantling anything but is there anything I can do to prevent it popping out again?

Put some super glue or similar round the base before inserting it!

Hi Ian, you'll have to get underneath to put it back, they all do it. To benefit from superglue you'll have to clean the hole, don't know how you would do that. Put the tube lying downon somethinghard and tap the engineend GENTLY till it's very slightly oval, then tap it back into place, the hole willforce it back to round and it won't leak. Done mine twice, the last time was five years ago. Enjoy, Martin.
