Help Required - Soft Top Stuck

Hello, having 'inherited' a beautiful Stag (it was my partners pride and joy) I am now trying to get her back on the road having been garaged for the last 18 months.
She's been serviced and has passed her MOT. However in trying to collapse the Soft top I seem to have sheared a bolt and having found it won't fully collapse into the gap under the Tonneau (sp) it now won't come back out.
So now I have a partially collapsed roof which sticks up in the air.
Any help/advice gratefully received and if there any good samaritans out there who live in the Sittingbourne area that would be willing to help me out I would appreciate it immensely.

    Thank you in advance.

Bad luck to have sheared one of your hood bolts. Hopefully someone locally will come to your assistance, but if you haven't found a Stag Owner don't worry.

As suggested the hood will have twisted and will be very difficult to either raise or lower by yourself. With a person at each edge it might be possible to cajole it out of the space behind the rear seat.

If you can get to the two nuts which hold the back of the rear seat in place you will be able to remove it and get access to the hood from below. It will be a lot easier to push up and you will be able to guide it past obstructions.

Run your hand along the back of the seat and you will find a vertical metal bar at each end.Nuts are about six inches down, one on each side.

The bolts in the Stag hood come in most of the Heinz 57 varietiesand shapes. You can view them on the Rimmer Bros catalogue page http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/rimmer/t...mp;%20Fittingsand decide what you need.

      Good luck

      Brian

hi novice lady , welcome to the forum, when you say "sheared a bolt" do you mean the part about an inch and a half long which is where the rear of thesoft top clips on either side before you stow the hood, ( locating stud thingymajig) :shock:its hard to explain without a picture , if so, i still have the same problem on my stag , your hood is probably stuck in the half up position , if you get your hand in between the rear edge of the hood and the tonneau cover you should be able to pull it up (grazed hand ,be carefull)and then close the hoodso you can then driveit to another member to have a good look at it and advise, your local area co-ord will help.

        dai the stag!
