    Stags to Riches!

I read today (in the Mirror)that among his collection of classic cars, Sir fred (the shred) Goodwin (ex RBS)has a Stag as well as a predictable Ferrari in his'stable'.

It just shows that the Stag is indeed the car of choice on a pension of over £600k, not just for plebs like most of us.

I wonder if anyone knows ofa higher profile owner than that?

Not sure I'd want any association in any form with Goodwin at the moment.

To be fair I am not here to defend him:? but nobody complained when he was knighted for services to banking---so he must have been good at his job, I feel he was a victim of the type of society that we live in, where risks are taken and if successful you will be rewarded. Will GB give up his pension as he has screwed up England? I don't think so.

He was presumably rewarded for his apparent success, why should he not take a share of the hit when things go wrong?

I would not want to defend him, nor accuse him. Many people these days are knighted for reasons beyond most of us as the system has failed in general. Let's also not forget hewas one man on the board of RBS and not alone in these matters. It's lucky for him that he will not be dealt with as the Enron executives were.

At least all this discussion about him is deflecting media talk of the credit crunch. being in retail I notice an increase in sales when different news takes over talk of recession.

I think the main problem with Goodwin etc is that if it was a normal company like the one I work for, for example it would have gone bust and he and all the other people who work there would have got nothing.

Obviously this could not be allowed to happen but maybe the bail out should have had more strings attached to it?
