Having the right parts for the job!

Hi All

Having learnt from past experience when doing jobs on cars tonight I have been reading the ROM on the procedure to replace the front discs.

I am glad I did as it explained that I need to replace the hub oil seal as well as the disc.

Several suppliers offer brake kits but none of them offer these seals in the kit which is an oversight on there part considering some owners may not have a ROM or may not have read the procedure in advance.

I think if I was a supplier I would offer kits that were complete so you don't get everything apart the realise you have something missing!!

How many more operations can you think of where there's the possibility of not have all the parts?

If you order that kit it will, but apparently you also need to replace it if you change the disc.

As there is nothing wrong with my wheel bearing I will not be replacing them, it is costing enough just doing the discs and front bushes!!

Yes, good point. There is enough flakey rust that comes of the old discs and when disturbed

You will really notice the difference when the job is done. Have you ordered your parts yet, as being the discs are heavy, you could collect a pair from Wards who will be at Stoneleigh. Just a thought

Hi Andrew

No I have not ordered them yet as I am debating whether to order from RB and take advantage of their 15% off offer and collect from the show along with a poly bush kit and new gaiters.

I will look on Wards site now and compare prices, I may ring Wards tomorrow as I want them to quote the inner rear and front arch repairs for me.
