Hi Graham
Once the unit is removed it takes about 5 mins if that to knock the old one out and put the new one in!
Easy job as long as you have circlip pliers, hammer and a drift.
If you are getting a slight whine and drumming noise it is most likely to be the quill shaft bearing.
Procedure is;
- Remove circlip from front of bearing
- hit the rear of the quill shaft (bit that mates with the diff) until the bearing is protruding about 3mm from the diff nose casing.
- Hit the front of the quill shaft to remove it.
- Drift bearing out from the rear.
- Using a block of wood replace new bearing
- Replace circlip
- Replace Quill Shaft
- Suggest you replace diff oil seal at same time.

One thing I discovered when I was doing mine was that the smaller washers from the main subframe mounts (WP828 and WP817) are the perfect size to use as a drift. No likelihood of leaving splinters in the bearing either then :P.

Dave
