What Have You Been Up To With Your Stag Today?

I'm unsure if this has been done before or not, so forgive me if it has. I thought we could have a sort of long term running"What Have You Been Up To With Your Stag Today?" thread so we can see what we have been up to with our Stag's.

No idea if this will take off or generate any interest but worth a try!!

Today after uni i Polished her using Meguiars 3 stage process and shes looking fab!

    How about you?

Spent three hours rubbing down bodyfiller:?. Hopefully if you repeat this thread this time next year I will be able to respond with something along the lines of "went for a spin with the sun shining and the top down"

Well, I felt obliged to go to work in something red today so there was only one sensible option - take the stag for the 40 mile round trip

I took Stag77 to work today.... as opposed to the normal motor...

The best bit of the day was on the way home I randomly ran into a Triumph Hearld 13/60 Conv - driving with his roof down (a local TSSC member) - so I roared up behind him and followed him for a mile or so until we parted our ways...

I loved it when he looked in his rear view mirror and realised a Stag was behind him! :dude:

It gave the pavement viewers also a smashing view around 5 pm this evening!!!

Need to clean him ready for Sunday and the run to RAF Hendon...

I have had a really hard week at work so to brighten the day up I went to Tesco and back in the Stag 20 miles of sweet burbling.

Still need to fix the bad bits but needed a fix!

Its been a rubbish week workwise and I would have loved to have driven the country route; 70 mile round trip with the roof down to brighten my mood, instead, the wobbly wheeled stag is on the drive pending investigation in the morning.

Well this is what I have been up to,have taken 2 weeks holidays to work on her,......made a bracket for header tank and fitted it, fitted the radiator which I had modified ( extra pipes top and bottom to fit hoses for volvo tank ), fitted hoses.

Moved on to fit carb elbows which I had powder coated, fitted 82 stat, prior to this had cooling system flushed under pressure. Wired up thermo switch and buzzer for low level warning for header tank, ran out of sunlight, will start early tomorrow and fit new dizzy cap,ht leads, rotor, air filter, airbox and air vent (all powder coated).

Fill up cooling system and spark her up after 5 weeks lay off. Yesterday had fitted in new veneered dash and all the clocks plus wood mota lita steering wheel, she really looks cool now.

p.s what is the Meguiars 3 stage process

Back in January I took off the tonneau/hood cover to investigate rust round the hinges. Two weeks ago I collected it from a body shop, paid my £200 and recovered it. By then the milder weather convinced me it was time to tackle the rear suspension and try to cure the huge camber defecit . New subframes was the advice of the day so when they and all the packages of bushes and bolts arrived I set to last Monday morning. Amazingly, possibly due to the self oiling system the holes in the subframes were still perfect. Tuesday brought the trailing arms to a friend to press out the bushes, and one of the eyes broke off. Got an offer of one from a local member and on Thursday morning began to put it all together. Finished off Friday morning with everything looking good.

The afternoon 30 mile run on a cold dull damp day was good, but nothing like the thrill of getting out of the car afterwards to see the wheels sitting perfectly vertical for the first time in my five years of ownership.

Polish can wait for another day, at least.

Oh and Paddocks, god bless them, are very happy to refund me for the unused subframes.

I spent today giving the old girl her first proper polish of the year, Maguires stage three, paint's good so I don't need the other two, then three hours on hands and knees ( oh those old knees ) bringing the wheels up to their chrome look.

Maguires three stage is a sequence of three progressively finer polishes to bring back old paint, it's Carnuba wax so no white dust, and the stage three leaves a beautiful shine, the best wax I've found is the Bilt Hamber one, but it can only be used on properly prepped paint, and is a bit of a pain to polish off, but you should see thegloss ! Martin.

                          Sounds good Martin!!!

Know what you mean about the knees, mine were a bit sore after doing the lower parts of the car and all the fiddly bits in the wheel trims!!

I will be back to removing underseal from my rear inner arches today, and prepping the stag for some minor weld repairs
