I have 1 new oil filter. And new oil sitting here.

Perhaps if i speak nicely to one of the Scottish members they can talk me through it or come and help for a few pennies?

      Hi Russell,
Did you not get an ROM (repair operation manual) with your Stag?

You can get them on Ebay and are a must for a Stag owner IMHO. (or atleast a Haynes manual)

Then you can teach yourself, with the help of this wonderful forum, how to do some of the basics (and save yourself some money)

          That's a good start Russell.

It's very satisfying to fix, service or sort a problem yourself.

          Al.

Hi Russell, it's VERY satisfying ! Many people denegrate the Haynes manuals, but as a starter they are very good, I've found faults with them over the years, but on balance they are very much worth having. No Stag manuals will mention the spin-on conversion, but changing the filter is so simple, I.E. unscrew the old, screw on the new, that no help is needed. Enjoy, and do keep us up to speed. Martin.

Martin, isn't there some issue with certain brands of filters not sealing adequately on the spin-on conversion leading to bypass issues?

Hi Ian, the only issue I've come across with the spin-on conversion, is people not fitting them carefully enough, mine's been on for five years and never lost a drop. Canisters are easy and cheap to get, and a doddle to fit, half the time of the paper filter, and half the mess too ! Martin.

                      Hi all

Am I right in thinking the oil I use Duckhams Classic 20/50 comes in 4.5 litre cans as I always need a little extra when bringing my level up to the top of the dipstick after being cranked over without the ht coil lead on and allowed to settle?
