    White marks on vinyl roof

    Hello

My hardtop has a black vinyl covering which is covered in white marks, I believe caused by condensation. Nothing from the Autoglym range seems to shift them. Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Out of interest, what is underneath a vinyl hardtop- is it just a normal metal hardtop?

Is it feasible to remove the vinyl, and then paint the hardtop body colour?

Have you tried using a stiff brush with some detergent? After that, try black valeting dye.

Al, Are you thinking of our hardtop . If soI willneed to get it back to you so you can get itsprayed with the rest of your car.

I can answer the question of what is under the vinyl (no I didn't peel your vinyl off to find out!) I had a factory vinyl covered hardtop come with my car. It had spent its entire life outside propped up against the guys garage and it was completelyrotten. I pulled the vinyl off and the steel underneath had the lightest cover of red primer I have ever seen. The vinyl was easy to remove but the glue takes much longer. I started doing it and realised the rot was so bad I chucked it.

PS if you are going to have your hardtop sprayed bodycolour remember my bodycolour is white!

                Alan,

I was thinking of our hard top, yes. My apologies for being presumptious about re-spraying it.

Not having see it for so long, I was just wondering what was underneath, and also exploring the options of what to do with the Lion claw marks:P

I always thought red and white went well together, like the cross of St George!

                Al.

Ideal compromise - I assume you mean spray it white so that your Stagwill have your favoured'St George' configuration. I'm afraid spraying it red would simply not do, the red over white on my carwould give it totally the wrong look, like a monstrous boil on anvirginal whitebeauty.

Try a Mr.Muscle/CilletBang-type bathroom cleaner - usually works - try a small, less noticable, areafirst though
