End of a perfect week - not

To top the crap events of the week, someone has just written off my faithful Honda Accord outside the front of my house. It was only parked there as I had just replaced my wife's car with a much newer one, and as the insurance had been transferred I left both hers (and the Stag thankfully) parked on the drive and stuck mine outside until her old one was sold.

The Fiesta driver, undoubtedly drunk, screamed round the corner, lost it, hit my car and then somehow managed to drive off very badly damaged and has left me with severe rear NS damage that will no doubt be beyond economical repair....

I'm not sure my week could get any worse.....

    Russ.
So sorry to hear that. Why does it all happen at once? Maybe it was as well that you didn't get hold. of him as you might have been tempted. We all know how sympathetic the police are to the victim. He was probably not insured anyway.
Enjoy the O2 on Sunday and let your hair down.
    John.

Aw Russ im genuinely sorry to hear this. Did anyone on your street see the incident or get the reg details? These people should be strung up.....

We have a partial reg, and 2 of us drove around the area hoping to find them stopped somewhere effecting temp repairs - while I was driving I flashed down a Met Area Car and reported it to them.... I'm hoping they'll be a bit more pro-active as I know a lot of the local coppers and they are regularly round drinking tea on duty as I used to employ one of their wives.

I think he was taking his girlfriend home who lives locally - there is no other reason for going where he was going other than living there himself as the direction he was going is a dead end - I'm going to ask around this morning.

John - If only I had some hair! The car is now undriveable and was to be the vehicle of choice for getting to the O2! And I'm not parking the Stag in the Isle of Dogs!!!!

Cheers for the sentiment Russell - I don't want him strung up - more to come forward and admit his guilt as it's making a mess of my insurance no claims......

          Hi Russ,

Sorry to hear of your troubles - it never rains....

Sound like you might be able to find out who the little scrote is.

Not sure about the bit 'I used to employ one of their wives':shock:Probably could have been phrased better:P

Sorry to hear your woes Russ, but good luck in finding the culprit.

Some years back I replaced my 'daily driver Stag' bumper with a gleaming new rechromed job. A few days later some idiot decided not to stop when I did and wrote off the new bumper. To make matters worse, his documents turned out to be fake, and he claimed his brother, whom the police could not contact was driving. The good news was that my insurance company allowed me to repair it myself, and paid me handsomely for it, so I even made a small profit from it . Hopefully there is always a silver lining somewhere.

I know sympathy doesn't cut it when you are in danger of losing your NCB, but have some anyway.

Hope you catch the little toe-rag and he gets done for not stopping/reporting as well as gets a hit on his insurance. Unfortunately I think the odds are on him not getting caught and, if he does, not having insurance, MOT, etc...... Too much of that going on these days. :X

FWIW, when I got clobbered by a hit and run a few years ago I was lucky to get his number. I got my legal protection (DAS) to pursue him after the police bottled it and we took him to court. A bit of research on road layout, speed limits (including photos)and plenty of psychological warfare did the trick - i.e. turning up in court wearing a suit, carrying a briefcase, smiling at the (female) judge and talking politely and clearly easily won the case against an ill-prepared, jeans/trainers/Guinness jacket-wearing incoherent youth.

              Good luck.

But not my sanity anymore Ian.....

They thumped into it so hard they have damaged the park lock in the auto box, and bent the OSR suspension against the kerb.....

Just off down the nick to fill out forms and get a crime report for the insurance company....but there is no doubt in my mind it's a total write-off

                    Russ.

Amazing that a Mk2 Fester can still drive after inflicting that damage! I think that I can see some of his blue paint embedded in your car.

                      Russ,

my old Honda accord was hit it a similar manner six years ago, it was repaired because at the time was only three years old, but never drove the same again and within six months i outed it, If i were you i would want the thing written off but these insurance companies are *******s when it comes to putting a value on cars.

Had an almost identical incident happen to one of my cars a few years back, wrote the car off and yet he still drove away. Reported it to the police who came around looked at the back of my car, went away then returned an hour later. "We have found the driver and already interviewed him and here are his particulars for your claim"

Iwas amazedand asked how they knew who hit the car.

One cop looked at the other, smiled and said "We found his front number plate in pieces under your car"

Hope you get a satisfactory outcome - Alan

Nasty one Russ, we had a similar thing happen a few months ago and even though the driver stopped, admitted it was his fault etc. It was still a hassle we can all do without. If there is a silver lining, at least you don't have to sell the car now!

Wrong bloody car Kevin!! The white one on the drive is the one up for sale..... My Accord was only on the road because the wife got home first and took the last remaining space with the red one (her new one)

Well it could easily have been the Stag parked there, so you could call that a glimmer of a silver lining.
