    Will brakes fit?

    Hi Guys

I wonder if any of you know whether Austin Princess brakes will fit straight onto the stag or will need some modifying first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Not sure how easy it is to fit, but Chris Witor reckons they have less braking power than the original: http://chriswitor.co.uk/Chris_Witor_...ted_Brakes.pdf

This maybe a marketing ploy as he makes his own conversions. Others may have experience of the Princess conversion.

Thank you for that. I suppose if you go back to the 70's and 80's no one would have thought a Princess could outbrake a Stag. Makes sense. I'll contact him directly and find out more. Thank you again.

Hi, this was a retro fit for TR7s, but depite being twin pot calipers they are smaller than the Stag ones, so I imagine less effective.

If you're changing calipers I would havethought the way to go is to the 4 pot route. Monarch do a conversion, but I don't know what the doner vehicle is. It's not the Rover SD1, I asked Rimmers. Would like to do this myself but can't afford the Monarch kit.

I believe monarch's brake kits are BMW based.

              Hi Gents,

The following is an extract from an E-Mail sent to me from Monarch regarding his brake conversion, i hope this is of help ( this information is un tried as i have not replaced the parts on my car yet).

Re brakes. The front callipers ( Girling) are off a Volvo 240 with ventilated BMW 323i series discs. Both have to be modified by a machine shop but anywaywill be available from Monarch. The pads are APEC 576( 1974-94 volvo200 series)with pad fitting kit (PINS, SPRING CLIPS AND SPLIT PINS) APEC 251.

Brakes International part numbers Disks BDS4347 / BDS4196 (please check which number is for Girling) Pads BPS1576.

              Cheers
