    Refitting Hard Top

    Hi Guys

I introduce myself as a newbie to this forum, been a SOC member for nine months and finally one week ago my dream of thirty odd years came true and I became the proud owner of a stag and it is grrrreat, possibly the nicest car I have owned or driven and certainly fantastic with the lid off. I have removed the hard top twice with the assistance of my able bodied rev limiter (wife). however we don't seem to be getting the top to re locate correctly when refitting, the rear pin doesn't fully engage in its socket so the top will not seal down to the body. Is there a particular knack or method to refitting the top?, sorry its a mundane question from a stag novice, if there are any other stag owners in north oxon or neighboring counties maybe some body would be good enough to show me where I am going wrong.

    Kind regards.

        Hi Mervyn,

        Weclome to the Forum.

As far as I know, not many of the hard tops latch down on the centre pin at the back. Mine doesn't! . As long as the four latches fasten ok it won't fly off. A bit of jiggling before you clamp it down may help to get it to seal better around the back. Look from the inside and make sure you can't see daylight. There should be two plastic screws at the rear lower corners. (Visible from underneath with the roof off.) these will allow a modicum of adjustment.

        Regards

        Dave

            Hi Stu

Many thanks for the link, I have read it with interest and intend to follow up some of the advice contained in it particularly removal of the rear pin and alsothe hoist mechanism for lifting the hard top, this forum is great, definitely the font of knowledge for stags.

            regards
