I seem to have developed a couple of leaks in the cooling system. The first is a minor weep from the inlet manifold and the second appears to be from the head gaskit between cylinders 3 & 5. Both leaks start once the car has been parked in the garage for a couple of days but do not seem to be a problem when the car is running as I do not appear to be loosing any coolant and have no overheating problems at the moment!! Last summer I replaced the entire cooling system and backflushed everything. What came out was almost as clean as what I put back in. Having just been made redundant I cannot afford to pay someone to take the head off and fit new gaskits so my question is this....... is the use of Bars leaks or similar, a definate No No in the Stag engine or is it worth taking a chance to see if it stops the problem or will this block the heater matrix and small water ways in the heads?

There are some on here who recoil in horror at the mention of Bars Leaks, Radweld, etc. in a Stag cooling system.I know of oneStag expert whoalways chucks a bottle of Radweld into the Stag cooling system if it has been apart for any reason. The Stags he maintains don't suffer from overheating. I have used it in the past to stop a minor radiator leak until I can get it fixed. I can't see it doing any harm to your Stag.
