I just lifted this from the other forum, I thought it might be of interest.
The IWIS chains that can be used for the Stag are:
1. BMW M30 engines (2.5 to 3.5 Lit): BMW p/n 11 31 1 716 986. Iwis p/n is 50023482 KFZ, Iwis Description: G 67 BW 106 GLD MSS. All M30 engines from later 70's to early 90's used the same p/n. Only the early 70's M30 engines used a different p/n because they had a duplex chain.
2. Mercedes: Iwis p/n 50026323, Iwis Description: G 68 WN-12 106 V GLD. The chain is, I think, for 190E (baby benz, 2.3 lit version) and some other models from late 70's to early 80's. The chain comes under some 5-6 different MB part numbers, depending on the engine type, even though it is identical (MB numbering system, I guess).
The BMW chain is same as the Stag's (106 link) chain in all respects. The only difference of the MB chain is that it is 1mm wider measured across the outer links because the outer links are spaced towards the inner links by 0.5mm at each side. The inside width (between the inner links) is same as on the Stag's chain. I don't think the extra overall width of 0.5mm at each side would be a problem if fitted to the Stag. Perhaps the small spacing of the outer links from the inner links is a good thing - the links will not rub against each other.
I bought a couple of each, BMW and MB, mentioned Iwis chains but I have not installed them yet as my original chains are still fine. I have verified the suitability of these chains by wrapping them around a brand new OEM Stag Jackshaft sproket and they fit perfectly.
Regards, Miki.
