spray gun nozzle sizes

Hi All

What size nozzles do people recommend for applying the top colour coat? The gun I have been using for the priming is fitted with a No. 2 nozzle. The other guns I have are fitted with either 1.2mm or 1.8mm nozzles.

Can someone explain the relationship between the nozzle no.'s and the physical diameter?

Hi Bruce, will try and offer a bit of advice but don't take it as gospel, nozzel size is relevant to the size of your compressor.

1.5HP compressor nozzel size 1.2mm

2.0HP compressor nozzel size 1.4mm

3.0HP compressor nozzel size 2.0mm

Imyself have a 3.0HP compressor and use a 1.4mm nozzel because in a confined space such as a single garage I try to keep over spray to a minimum.

So what diameter is a no2 nozzle?:shock:Its too small to mean 2mm.

Hi again Bruce as for your No. 2 nozzel all I can say to that is it must be the manufactures marking can't shed any more light on that, just use the gun and nozzel that you feel most comfortable with and produces results that you are happy with, best of luck Peter.
