Tracing Your Car's History

I know this has been covered before but i cannot find it for the life of me.

I want to find out from the DVLA the names and addresses of all the previous keepers of my Stag. I know you can do this and obtain lots of photocopies from them. I know some folks on here have done this.

Can anyone shed any light on how i go about this and how much it costs?

now just sit back and wait, and wait..... Could be a few months before you get anything. I got about forty pages of photocopy covering 17 previous owners.

Must be the best value around at the price.

Hi Brian

I thought my history was interesting with 13 previous UK owners

I came stuck with the early part of the history on my Stag

My car a 1972 was in the IOM first and re registered in the UK in 1977 and was given a uk registration number.

I would be interested if any one knows how to trace the history in the IOM

I take it the IOM does not have a DVLA type place?

Not sure of the system on IOM

Ihave been told that they reuse allocated numbers and not sure if its the owner of the number or if the number stays with the car as in the uk

So far not a lot ....

My DVLA search came back with a poor photo copy of the application for first licence with the form filled in by hand, crossing out and writing over the top

the best i have made out is that the registration mark was MAN 434 which was crossed out and XTV 379S written above

the seller dealer box has "Mr Ruben Offiler Hazeldene Orrisdale Kirk Micheal IOM"

I wrote a letter when I first got the car but have not had a reply so did not know what else to do.

Hmm interesting. Its a pity IOM numbers are not allowed here, that would of been nice! Fingers crossed you may still get a reply yet.
