    High !

I'm a new SOC member since March. I live in the North of France. I bought my Stag in March (MKII 1972) having some maintenance (carburetor, timing chain, shock absorbers, and so on). I hope I could drive it in August or September... I've made some km in April (before to take it out the road) but not enough for me ! I enjoy very much driving this car, which is very different - but complementary - to my Spitfire (MKIV 1972).

I live in the North of France (near Valenciennes) and I would know if there are French SOC members in this area reading this forum !

(sorry for my English, I'm a little bit rustedhas I haven't enough practice for the past two years).

        Not at all !

I belong to the Nord Triumph Club, there are only two Stags : mine and one of my friend. But excepted those, I never seen a Stags on the French road ! We can imagine there are only 100 Stag still 'surviving' in France. In fact I didn't know the Stag even if I amfound of British cars. When I started to look for a soft top with enough room for my two children (I have also a Spitfire), I started to ask questions to this friend about his Stag and that the way I discover all the qualities of this car which have a very bad reputation in France due to his lack of reliability. There are very few people in France which can maintained correctly a Stag and are enough skill to correct its default (overcooling, timing chain, etc.): its a vicious circle. The Stag I have bought has been maintained by different workshops who don't know nothing about Stag that the reason why I have to do all that job on theengine !

But the few French owners I have met wouldn't sell their Stag for any price !When I decided to by a Stag, I ask my friend to sell me his during two years ! But with no success. Finaly I discover one in Belgium, not far for my home. It was sold in France in 1973 and bought byits Belgium owner in 2001. This Belgium people has several others cars (mainly American's one), and decided to sell the car as he has difficulties to maintained it... hopfully for me.

It takes me nearly three years to found one...

Looks nice. You are right to be proud of your new posession - is that colour Damson?

There are a couple of Stags in or around Brittany. They usually meet up with our local area when they do a Brittany trip every year.

            Thanks Dave,

I think its colour is Sienna Brown but I'm not sure. The car was resprayed by he previous owner and I'm not sure it is exactly the original color. Its seem to be a little bit 'darker' than the original SIenna Brown...

Hi French Stag - Great to see a Stag going well in France. I can only imagine that it's so much more difficult keeping it maintained and on the road - well done.

I'm planning my holiday next year around taking the Stag camping through France so there will be one extra on the road for 2 weeks.

I Ray, and welcome in France foryour holiday !

About the maintenance of the Stag, fortunately one of my best friend is a Triumph specialist which has yet rebuild one Stag before. So he knowspretty well theStag. And for the spare parts, no problem, English companies, such as Rimmer Bross, can send us all the parts we need in less than a week. Great job !

If I didn't know this friend, I wouldn't have bought a Stag because, as I explained before, French workshop doesnt see very often Stag in their workshop and are not 'comfortable' with them. And my knowledge in mechanics are not enough !

But with the help of this friend my Stag should be back on the road very soon.

In fact, it should be already back on the road, but my friend as suffered from a very bigstorm and he didn't have the time to work on my car, of course. He has nearly loosed his house (at present timehe live in a bungalow...), he losses about 15 Triumph he has bought during the past 20 years, all of the spare parts, and so on... I hope his problem will be - partially - resolved till the end of July. In that case we could work on the Stag during August.

You can see pictures of thedamages on the Nord Triumph Club website (I am the webmaster): http://www.nordtriumphclub.net/index...2&Itemid=1

What a mess - it must be heart breaking.

                  Good luck with the Stag.

                        Hola,

I am an Englishman who Emigrated to Tenerife in 2004 - driving myStag all the way to Tenerife without any major mishaps. Like in France, there are not many Stags in Tenerife,

I have seen only one other on the Island. I have to do all my own servicing here as not too many people know about the car, except for British visitors who come on Holiday here.

Any part I need is available in the U.K. & I usually bring some spares back with me each time I visit Family over there.

My Stag likes Tenerife & seems to cope with the heat of Summer O.K. I have permanently removed the Hardtop as the sun always shines here.

                        Terry

Did you really have to post that as we are having the worst, wettest, Summer for a long while over here :X:X:X:X:X

Only kidding , I am sure we are all very envious. Enjoy.

                            Sorry,

I know how lousy your weather is at the moment, but it's Hot here - andthat is normal for this time of year. Most people are in the Pool cooling off, except for those who nipped into the Bar to watch Lewis Hamilton come 3rd in the French Grand Prix.

My Stag needs a wash (too much sand on it) - but it's too hot to do it today - will have to wait till we get some cloud cover (manana maybe).
