    MOT Failure

Sad news, the old girl failed the MOT, Some what suprised however the MOT guy found a nice hole just at the start of the nearside sill (right under, floor to sill join)nicely covered by the fancy chrome sill cover, having only brought the car a couple of weeks ago I am now thinking this could be a whole lot of trouble as previous marques have proved a real trouble spot in this area.(you would have though I would have learned by now)

anyhow I am looking for a body blowup diagramto familiarise myself with the construction and see what I am up against, does anyone know a good drawing or diagram on the net or have one.

Sorry to hear about that to Paul

The Rimmerbro's on line catalog shows to some degree how the panels fit in that area, not brill but it's a start

        Hi Paul

If you look on the E J Ward website they do a dvd which contains how to replace the sills and outriggers etc.

From what I remember if you need a new sill it extends into the lower front wing so you have to cut this away and replace this area as well.

It is not a cheap repair but once done lasts a very long time if kept waxoyled etc.

I have to replace the LH splash panel due to some corrosion and a bodged previous repair. I will do this myself which is scary but exciting all at the same time!

Hiya Paul, really sorry to hear your old darling failed to win the annual lottery - best thing I can say, what I say to everybody in your position, carefully wrap your sill covers in bubble wrap - then throw the buggers away. Even if you waxoyle under them, they still hide anything coming through from the inside. A few years ago they found favour with MGB owners, why do you suppose they've all been binned ? Martin.
