engine block drain taps

Hi,Can anyone direct me as to how I can access the drain taps, I am about to flush the cooling system out this morning,

Done it last time but did not know that the block needs to be drained as well.

PS then I can go about sorting out the high pitched sound, Quill Shaft Bearing?, Alternator?, Gearbox? Today will be the day if the weather holds out ( Groan )

Hi Sukh

The drian plugs are behind the exhaust manifolds and can only be accessed from beneath.

I use a socket on an extension and UJ but be prepared to get a wet arm!

Make sure you have the NSF jacked up as it helps stop air locksduring refilling.

Thanks for the info Stuart, Got the block drained and coolant replaced. The drain tap came off alright,but it nearly took a month of Sundays to get the crud out and see water flow out. Used a coat hanger but the thing that did the trick was a large cable tie I used the tapered end and kept stuffing it in and working it round.

Well done Sukh at least you know the jobs done right now and the engine just run real nice with the right coolant flow!

Just confirms my thoughts if you don't do it yourself it hasn't been done!
