Ride height

Hi all

After totally rebuilding the suspension with new shocks & bushes all around my Stag looks to have almost 9" above the rear wheels & around 6" above the front.

The gearbox & engine are in the car & apart from fuel in the tank,bumpers on & the interior back in I can't imagine these items will make much difference to the clearance between the wheels & the arches.

I'm sure many people will have done the jobs I describe.Will the ride height settle after a few road miles or have I done something wrong ?:?

I would "borrow" the bride from the photo you posted and let her sit in the car until the springs gave in and the car was at the ride height you want!

On the other hand rolling the car forward and backwards over a few meters should help it settle too

The only thing I wonder is did you tighten up the trailing arm/suspension pivot bolts up with the arms hanging down? The manual suggest not to fully tighten the pivot bolts until the weight is on the car? This could cause the ride height to increase, although I admit I did mine without the weight but with the arms almost horizontal and it seemed fine.

Did you dismantle and re-fit the springs with new seat rubbers?

When I did out GT6 rear suspension recently it took a few weeks of rattling around the local roads for the suspension to settle down and level out. As per Ian F's comment, I tried to tighten up everything whith the car down on its wheels but that was not possible for some of the bolts.
