Overdrive Issues

Anyone come across this problem or more to the point a solution to it?
The overdrive (O/D) seems to be working normally but on the overrun the car surges - it feels like the O/D is cutting in and out - in all gears!
Disconnecting the power feed to the O/D at the fuse box seemed (past tense) conclusively to eliminate the problem. Suggesting an intermittent short somewhere. However on the last trip the surging was back with the O/D unpowered.
Oil is fresh, level okay, solenoid new, filter replaced.
Is the overdrive stuffed?

I had similar symtoms on my car a couple of years ago, I renewed the "O" rings in the overdrive solenoid shuttle valve and the fault hasn't occured again. I got the "O" rings in a kit from Greg Tunstal Mechanical in Cleveland, nearBrisbane. Don't know who you could use locally in the "Land of the long white cloud"

Thanks for the suggestion. These are cheap and easy parts to replace so I might as well do it and see if it works.
