my point is that within the club web site there is information only for members and co-ordinators. The forum is for people interested in the Triumph Stag.

without the magazine your access to the club web site is compromissed

If you google 'stag owners forum' you can jump straight to the forum without a log-in

Which begs the question, "What is the point of a password and log-in system?":?
Bingo ! there is no point in having it password-protected.... it serves no practical use for forum access !

        i repeat my previous posting

the forum is not password protected and can be accessed by various means BUT the club web site is protected by password for members that pay a subscription with information solely for them

If you wish to gain access to this extra info then you need the club magazine to get the password

without the magazine being delivered on time acccess to the club web site could be compromised if the change in password happens at the begining of the month.

I thinkyou can continue to use the old password for quite a while before it is stopped, so shouldn't really be a problem.

Sorry, coudn't read your reply Bob, could you make it a little bit bigger please!
I was just trying to make a point so thought I'd up the font size 1 degree. Could have put it in "Italics" instead - but nobody other than me seems to like italics!

Just following on from what has been said previously, accessing the Forum via the SOC Website is like watching paint dry. I am a lazy person I suppose and if I want to access information I want it Immediately, not in 5 minutes time, which is why I use a shortcut to access the Forum. If I needed a password from the Mag I might as well give up as I don't get the Mag until the info in it is way past it's sell by date.
Where I live I am limited to Broadband speeds of only 1mb so I need to speed things up in any way I can. I still access the SOC main website, but when I have time to spare, not as a route to the Forum. I still look forward to receiving the SOC mag, and woudn't want to loose it, but the Forum is the only way to get up to the minute information. If I have a problem with my car I know that I can get an immediate response on the Forum - and that is invaluable - especially living abroad.
                  Long live the Forum.

I seem to recall somebody complaining that caps inferred SHOUTING ! Mind you, he was a psycho.

We have to keep things password protected ! Some of the kiddy car forums are not, and people post all kinds of rubbish, lude, coarse, foul mouthed, pornographic - oh !- sounds a little like this one ! That aside, it's a genuine problem. Martin.

Lots of ideas but they need somebody to see them through. Rod who publishes the mag may not be a member here and if not, until the paper world gets connected with the electronic world, all these good ideas will go no where.
