    Stag Forum Popularity

    Graham,

As a user of other Forums besides this one, the Stag Forum seems to me by far the best & most popular, attracting (relevant or nearly relevant) posts every day of the week. I wonder are there any statistics to prove that this Forum is an unqualified success and one of the most User friendly & popular ones in it's field (it doesn't really matter if there aren't).

The Complex where I live has recently set up it's own Website & Forum, but no one (apart from myself that is) is making any posts on it. Lots of people are registering and viewing the Forum - yet they all seem to be reluctant to make a post.

Thank god for the Stag Forum to stimulate my interest & keep me sane after a hard day by the Pool!.

How do you measure the success of a venture such as this - long may it continue.

A big thank you to Carl for setting it up, and to you Graham for your invaluable contribution. Also to all contributors to this Forum, whether I agree with the posts they make or not.

Just to get back on track to matters Stag - mine is booked in for it's annual ITV (MOT) on the 6th May and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will pass. No allowance is made for older cars out here regards emission controls and this is my main worry.

If it passes I aim to go round a few local garages and get quotes for a complete respray (my car needs it) - in white of course as I wouldn't want to devalue my car!

Time to take my medicine (Brandy & lemonade with lots of ice).

How about starting a quiz or something of interest that everyone can comment on, you know like something along the line of what Stuart started " what colour would you have your Stag in" it will help to break the ice.

      Terry,

the customer is king in my world and the customers of this placereach out and help each other which is about the best possible situation. Thats nothing to do with anything that anyone has done, in fact its probably more to do with what people havent done.

As to how to measure success, I am moderately successfull in sales, so my bad months are always positioned as being goodso I dont think I could be objective about any sort of measurement..

If I had some commision riding on it, I would add that on the 10th of September 2008 on the publication of the first article, there were 27000 posts. Even allowing for Russell the student or sprout as some have called him (who seems to have disapeared lately?) thats a lot of new posts

That must be getting on for 200 more since we started promoting the forum in the Stag Mag!

              Hi,

If you wanted to see how many hits the site gets (not posts) in a very detailed way you could use a free service to track stuff. Google provides on free called Analytics.

A little bit of xml code goes into the source of the page and every time the page has a hit the data is collected and can be viewed in a graphical format. You can't see individuals logging in (which is good) but you can see town locations for the ip address source, numbers of pageview, visits, vistors, new users, how they got there and loads of other stuff and all graphed over time (so you can see if hits are increasing/decreasing)

It's pretty easy to set up and is very interesting.

Google Analytics gives you the tools you need to better understand your customers. You can then use those business insights to take action, such as improving your website, creating tailored audience lists, and more.

              cheers
              Kevin

It is possible to get usage stats from the forum. Look at the bottom of this page:
