A mixed week

There was an advert on TV last year which said if something good happened a bad thing also happened to balance things--AKA Stag ownership

I got my rad recored last week-(thanks toPete Beer),also got 2 extra outlets soldered in for the Merc expansion tank. Whilst it was off the road I went about fitting a replacement J leg(thanks to VMad)to my soft top frame.

Whilst fitting it extra pressure was put on the opposite side causing a previous weld repair to break:X

So the bullet has been bitten and the reluctant decision had been made to get a re conned frame. So today I am taking my hood off my frame and sending it to Vmad so he can fit it to one of his lovely frames. When fitted I will be taking the Stag on a 400mile round trip to have the frame fitted to the car.

This trip is probably the longest journey my Stag has ever done- the first half will be topless so some warm weather has been requested. I do have a hard top but some welding work is required to the front handle mounting points-----that is now on a distant back burner.

Yeah but the long drive will be probably next week or the week after-------------------Still it will give my new rad and header tank a good testing (concentrate on the possitive Darren)

The hood came off without any difficulty at all

I then put her on the ramps to investigate some resonance- it was the exhaust , badly fitted, I knew it would be a pain when I read the stickers on the scilencers 'RIMMERS'

Still all done so I am going for a drive now

That was a great drive- I had a lot of resonance from the exhaust at about 3500 rpm---that has now completely gone, so much quieter, I am now able to hear so many other little creaks & groans(albeit much subtler ones):?
