    T bar retrimming

    Hi All

Can anyone make a good recommendation for who to contact with regards to retrimming the T bar? Both T bars I possess have small rips in them

    Cheers

Morning Bruce - aldridgeTrimming in Wolverhampton did mine. If I can find the bill I'll let you know how much it was.

      Hi Bruce

I'd be interested in your findings. I notice Paddocks sell the covers but can't see anyone offering foam.

My T bar foam is now slowly exiting via the stitching holes. The covers not bad but after lubricating the zip at the weekend I tried to undo it and promptly broke the zip tab off. I'm loathe to continue trying to get it off now until I know I've got materials to replace everything.

Hiya, I've seenthis foam and it looks very good, it's a single layer with Velcro edging, so it will stay in shape while the cover is refitted. Martin.

Thanks guys. Has anybody on here attempted to fit a new foam and cover onto the T bar themselves?

            Cheers

              Hi Bruce,

I have used Stuart Epps in Ravensmoor near Nantwich in the past couple of weeks.

We used the new foam kit from Aldridge which works really well and a new cover also from Aldridge. I am VERY please with the result. I have seen both the Wards and Aldridge foams and in my opinion the Aldridge one is closer to the original Triumph look and feel.

Stuart works for Bentley, but also runs his own trimming business. Look for trimshop on the internet.

He also made and fitted new covers for my seat in leather. I am VERY pleased with the results on both the T-bar and seats and can really recommend him. He is a really nice guy too. His price was also very reasonable, the full job on the seats and t-bar cost less that I could purchase the leather covers from Aldridge.

I notice you are in Crewe. I live near Tarporley, so only a fewmiles down the road. I would be happy for you to pop over and see his work. I could also show off the Stag which I'm hoping will return to the road in next couple of months after a very long restoration (nearly ten years).

PM me if you can't find Stuarts details or would like to come over.

              Regards, Paul.

                  Hi Bruce

Not much use to you but I got mine done by a guy in Lincolnshire who charged me £35, I supplied the material but he supplied the zip, he made a cracking job of it. I bought the biscuit material from Aldridge so it matches my interior. Only downside was he took2 years to do it, luckily it was a spare tee bar.

Just a point to note he informed me that he had been asked to retrim (including the tee bar) a Stag that had been extensively restored. When he fitted the tee bar it became apparent that thedoors etchad been fitted up without the tee bar in place resulting indifficulty refitting the tee bar and when finally fitted the resulting door shuts were V shaped:shock:.

                    Hi Bruce

Did my T bar last year got the cover from Rimmers, but found the zip in the cover

to be too long. zip didn't start and end in the write place.

When i was looking for foam couldn't find it on the internet. so went to my local market and made my own. Not too bad a job if i say so myself.

Just on with my hood frame now and will be fitting new soft top.

See you live Crewe, i work for Pfeifer Drako based in Crewe. do you know of them.

                      Hi Dave

I am planning on refitting the T bar as soon as I have finished spraying it. I want the body rigid before it goes back down on its wheels.

                      Hi Gazza

I have never heard of that company. What do they do? If you are ever over here on business feel free to pop round.

                      Cheers

                      Bruce

                        Hi All

I visited Justriumph this afternoon and purchased a T bar from him minus cover. I will be ordering a new foam and cover kit tomorrow. An interesting job to tackle one evening next week whilst SWMBO is watching the TV.

Can anyone recommend a good adhesive for attaching the foam?

                        Regards

                        Bruce

Hi Bruce, if you get the Wards T bar foam you don't need glue, it has velcro fastening to keep it in place while you fit the cover. Martin.

Hi Bruce, did you buy the T-bar foam and cover from Aldridge?

I think Stuart Epps used a normal contact adhesive to fit mine.

                            Regards, Paul.

                              Hi Guys

Thanks for feedback regarding adhesive etc. I am planning on purchasing the Ward foam and cover.

Ever wondered what your T bar looks like underneath the padding?

                              Cheers
