Hello everybody,
Today my local workshop tried to ballance the wheels on my Stag. They found out that the nut seats ("maudit soi qui maly pense" - referring to the nuts) in the alloys are conical and presumably designed to hold nuts with a shaft - 14 mm long and 19 mm wide.
Unfortunately the nuts used on my Stag have neither a conical step nor a shaft. So the wheels (actually rims) can only be centered with great difficulty, as they "tumble".
I should not forget to mention that my Stag is a 1971 Mk1, whereas tre alloays are from a Mk2.
What is wrong here? We managed to centre the rims with the aid of 7/16 conical nuts from another car by centering the rims with four conical nuts first and then replace them one by one with the old "non-conical" ones.
Can you please advise?
Kind regards, Dieter.
