Just happened to be browsing around the DVLA site and 'staggered' across it.

You must be at work or it is pissing down in Devon
John.
John,
Neither. I must confess I have a new car on order and was looking to see if I could pick up a suitable plate for it. And no,I haven't offered the Stag under the scrappage scheme :P.

What did you go for Dave? I recently changed my term rental agreement and had a very positive financial arrangement and I bet there are some great non-scrap deals still to be had.
How are you on DVLA rules. I have an Irish Reg that used to be on my Stag but is now in a state of Limbo. Before we emigrated I had the numbers 421 TMK on a Merc (transferred this to my daughter whose name is Tina Makinson before we left). My Wife Maureen had 355 MAU on her Honda Accord and we sold that number before driving the Honda to Tenerife. The Stag's registration MXI 124 was on all ownership documents and been notified to the Ferry Companies and Spanish Authorities beforehand so I couldn't change/sell it before driving over.
Now that I have a Spanish reg on my Stag, MXI 124 has gone into a "Black Hole"somewhere. DVLA say I can't sell it without bringing the Stag back to the U.K. and taxing it & Insuring it and then having it inspected. Something I'm obviously not going to do. Ideally I would like to transfer it to my Son - but DVLA say the same thing applies to making a transfer as to selling it. Shame I can't do anything with this number as I paid hard earned cash for it.
Switching to another topic I believe you were the one who asked me to post some pictures of our local Classic Car Show. Well I did - see thread "What a Great Show".
I have gone for another Audi A3. I have been very pleased with the one I have but I have had it for over 3.1/2 years so fancied a change. Completely mad from a financial point of view, but then when did that stop us when it comes to cars? :?So if anyone wants a 2005 (55) Audi A3 2-litre TDI SE Sportback (5-door) in Lava Grey with leather, cruise, light and rain pack, reversing sensors and more, with just under 21,000 miles and FASH, let me know.
Terry,
From whatI know about DVLA rules is very little, but I believe that transfers must be from a taxed and MOT'd vehicle, whether it is to another vehicle or onto a retention certificate, so it looks as if your MXI plate may be history.
