Just got the heads back from these guys. I had the top head welded on the lower left hand water port (nearest timing chain)as the corrosion was getting close to the edge. Hopefully I can get away with the rest.

For info, total came to £230 including helicoiling some of the inlet manifold threads and doing all 6 studs on the manifolds to downpipes. Not sure if that's good value or not.

Now to start putting it back together!

Recon exchange heads are around £400+VAT each:shock:so doesn't sound too bad to me.

I've just done mine and would advise changing all the core plugs as a precaution. I didn't do mine before refitting and should have. I had a couple leak and it was a real pig of a job renewing them with the heads in place.:X

Green and Weatherly, now there is a blast from the past! Glad to hear they are still in business. I used to live just around the corner. During the process of what I called 'tuning' I used to take my old AJS head in there every fortnight and have another 20 thou shaved off. This continued until I hadmy 'ultimate' engine - wouldn't idle, bugger to start andran like a bags of nails onShell's best 5Starbut with the smell of castrol 'R' in your nostrils, no speed limit and the 'Busy Bee' 2 miles up the road what else would any 17 year old wannabe rocker want!
